The role of a business analyst is diverse and requires post holders to have a range of qualities to be successful.
The purpose of this page is to review the key skills and qualities I have developed that enable me to be a consistently high-performing business analyst.

Determined - self-motivated, driven, high standards, quality and success focused, passionate about BA. High energy. Purposeful. In the zone.

Aware - contextual understanding of role, project, and company. Aware of own strengths and limitations, needs and preferences. Experience of the full project life cycle and successful projects. Focused on discovering the precise reality via research to enable informed decision making.

Resourceful - innovative and a proactive problem solving solutionist, always on toes, thinking on feet. Agile and flexible. Experienced. Thinking inside and outside of the box. What box?

Communicative - considerate clarity concisely conveyed. Relationship building and effective collaboration. What are other's preferences/needs? Lead with clear quality communication that sets the tone.

Knowledgeable - strategise and make decisions based on data and best practice. Research and analyse relevant areas extensively. Be knowledgeable about business in general.

Empathetic - stand in a user's shoes, see through their eyes. Do the same for all team mates and stakeholders.

Understanding - get to know everyone involved with the project and understand their role and their needs and preferences. Research and meet and understand the users.

Adaptable - be willing and able to do what circumstances require for the project to succeed. Adapt to different people/personalities to help make relationships work.

Organised - on top of every area of the role. Productive execution. Effective prioritisation. Everyone on the same page with clarity and a road map forward to success. Clear concise documentation of requirements and strategy.
