Hello, and welcome to this mini-series of posts!

This series was created with the intent of providing real-world insight into the nature of the role of Copywriter. I hope as a result you may make an informed decision as to whether Copywriting is for you as a career.

When we can do something quite easily, and it appears to come ‘naturally’ to us, we assume others can probably also do it quite easily as well.

Someone may look at examples of copy and just see a headline or one paragraph and assume they would be able to do it too.

While the copy presented may be minimal, if it is good and effective copy, then it took a lot of knowledge to create it.

That is what this series looks into – what you will need to know so you may be a good Copywriter – not just one who can get work, but a genuinely really good one with strong long career prospects in the field.

Part One provides you with an overview of the skills and knowledge you would need to have or develop to be a good Copywriter. This is a good starting point and should act as a rigorous guide to how to develop into the role.

Part One mentions the importance of understanding User Experience (UX), Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO), and psychology/sociology. However, as knowledge of these areas is so vital to become a good Copywriter, Parts Two and Three dives deeper into why.

Therefore, Part Two will focus on UX/CRO and Part Three on psychology/sociology.

This series is designed to make it clear in a realistic way what your working life would be like most often as a Copywriter, while also laying bare everything you need to know and be able to do to be a good one.

If you have any questions about this series or Content Design/Copywriting in general, just drop me an email :-)
